James qualified as a Chartered Accountant with a large National firm before joining Kingston Smith as a manager in 1992. He is a senior member of the firm's 'not for profit' team, with over fifteen years of experience advising charities, and holds the ICAEW specialist Diploma in Charity Accounting.

James has extensive experience of working with educational charity clients as well as a number of arts related organisations and membership bodies. He also brings additional expertise as a member of our vat specialist unit and has provided advice to our clients on vat issues including partial exemption and building projects.

James has a number of interests in the City: he is a liveryman of the Worshipful Company of Poulters, a committee member of the Lime Street Ward Club, and Churchwarden and organist of St Peter-upon-Cornhill.
